Alcohol

Alcohol abuse is probably one of the most serious problems existing in the world. The influence of alcohol on the humanity in general can be compared with the influence of wars and epidemics taking thousands of human lives every year. And the worst thing is that alcohol is not a disaster happening once in ten years, it's a terrible disease that exists here and now. We can see it every day and everywhere.
So what's the influence of alcohol on human health? The first thing to say is that alcohol is not only a narcotic drug, it is also a poison for the liver. 50% of all the people who drink alcoholic beverages regularly have some form of liver disorder, 35% of them have liver obesity and 8% suffer from a serious disease called liver cirrhosis. Besides the liver, alcohol can have detrimental effect on abdominal salivary, stomach, bowels, kidneys, and other organs.
Another important thing to know about alcohol is that it can considerably decrease the body's resistibility to causative agents of various diseases and toxic substances and thus leads to higher sickness rate among those who drink too much alcohol. Alcohol also affects germinal cells of both men and women. We know that these cells are the carriers of genetic information, and the health of future generations depends on their condition. Besides the germinal cells, alcohol can affect the intrauterine embryo and the fetus, as well as the growth of an infant. Especially detrimental is the influence of alcohol on male germinal cells - spermatozoons.
