Healthy food

Healthy food is something we hear about more and more often today. Let's see if that is really a problem or people are just concerned about something that's not even a problem. Why there wasn't such a problem in the past? What is healthy diet and why the food we eat is unhealthy?
First of all, most foodstuffs we eat are not that dangerous themselves. The problem is the amount of them that we consume every day, as well as their quality. A healthy diet means eating just enough of everything that's needed by our organism - vitamins, carbohydrates, protein and so on. It's become obvious today that people eat less fruit and more meat, which is dangerous not only for the figure, but also for the heart and many other organs. Excessive obesity may even lead to fatal outcome. However, meat itself is not a dangerous foodstuff as some of those who always stick to diets might think. Meat contains some vital substances and compounds that are necessary for normal functioning of the body. But the amount of meat and especially animal fat that we consume daily is just too much. That's a universal problem today: the balance is shifted and we eat less fruits, vegetables and more meat and products with sugar, which is detrimental for our heart.
The problem of obesity and many other problems connected with it are especially serious today due to the increase of the population worldwide and industrial methods of making food. Farmers would simply be unable to produce as much food without using pesticides and other chemicals, as well as without genetic modification of products, though it is a very controversial issue and its influence has not yet been proven.
